Why should fire alarm maintenance be carried out?
It is essential that all fire systems are regularly tested and maintained in order to prolong the life of the system and ensure any faults are promptly rectified. A system that is not maintained cannot be guaranteed to protect life and property. Furthermore the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that all fire safety equipment be “maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair”.
How often should fire alarms be inspected, serviced and tested?
Fire alarm systems should be serviced in accordance with BS5839-1:2017 (BS5839-6:2013 for domestic and sleeping accommodation). Regular service and maintenance should be carried out at least twice per annum or quarterly depending on your fire risk assessment with weekly tests being carried out by the client.

Our Engineers are trained on all makes of fire alarm systems and most addressable system protocols and each Engineer carries a wide range of spare and replacement parts as well as programming and diagnostic equipment to ensure you receive the best possible service at the best possible price.
We also operate a unique maintenance schedule system that allows our engineers to ensure all devices are tested on the correct service visits. Each device on your system is noted on our database and given a unique asset reference number which is very useful to our Engineers on site as well as for you when carrying out weekly testing and asset registering. A copy of the asset list for your sites can be sent to you directly via email.
24 Hour Call Out Response
Thor Fire Ltd offer a 24 hour 365 day urgent call out response service and can attend your premises within three hours, in the event of a fire alarm developing a fault. We also aim to repair most faults at the time of the call out to reduce the need to return within working hours saving you money.
80% of minor faults and instances of fire alarms being stuck in “FIRE” are resolved over the phone with one of our call handlers or on call Engineers again saving you money. We only charge a call out fee if we have to physically attend site. Advice is always free.
Thor Fire Ltd offer Service Agreements for Fire Alarm Servicing & Testing to take the hassle away from you. Once the Service Agreement is in place, we will contact you each time a service visit is due to be carried out to arrange a convenient time to attend.
